The Aquatech Marine Polish System

The Three-Step Marine Polish System

Professional detailers don't pick one polish and call it done. Gelcoat and marine paint respond best to a graduated cut-polish-finish sequence — with each step designed to undo the work of the previous one just enough to prep the surface for the next. Aquatech's polish line is built to follow that system without the guesswork.

  • Step 1 — Cut. For heavy oxidation, deep scratches, and chalky gelcoat, start with Buff & Cut Compound on a wool cutting pad at 2,200–2,500 RPM. This is the correction step.
  • Step 2 — Polish. Move to Marine Polishing Compound for moderate oxidation, water stains, and swirl marks. This removes the haze left by the cut and adds UV-resistant polymers.
  • Step 3 — Finish. End with Ultra High Gloss Polish for a deep, acrylic-like mirror shine that resists multiple wash cycles. For maintained surfaces, Premier Polish is the lighter standalone option.

How to Choose the Right Polish

If your gelcoat still beads water and looks glossy, you're at Premier Polish or Ultra High Gloss Polish territory. If surfaces look dull but feel smooth, start with Marine Polishing Compound. If gelcoat feels chalky, looks faded, or has deep scratches, you need Buff & Cut Compound as your first step. Most serious restoration jobs use all three in sequence.
